Crabtree Falls (Nelson County, VA)

Did you know that Virginia is home to the largest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi?  Crabtree Falls, located in Nelson County not far from my old home in Albemarle County, includes 5 major cascades (and numerous smaller ones) covering 1,200 feet.  However, when I think of the Falls, I think back to a day trip a couple of my highschool buddies and I made to Crabtree Falls with our girlfriends one summer.  There must have been some romantic vibes given off by the Falls since all 3 of us married the girls we were with that day,and some 50+ years later, we are all still married.

On a more technical note, I painted this picture following (more or less) Bob Ross’ black- canvas technique which starts with covering the canvas with black gesso to make the undercoat which forms the background fo the painting.  TO
